Number of patches (Aggregation metric)
Usage
lsm_l_np(landscape, directions = 8)
Arguments
- landscape
A categorical raster object: SpatRaster; Raster* Layer, Stack, Brick; stars or a list of SpatRasters.
- directions
The number of directions in which patches should be
connected: 4 (rook's case) or 8 (queen's case).
Details
$$NP = N$$
where \(N\) is the number of patches.
NP is an 'Aggregation metric'. It describes the fragmentation of the landscape,
however, does not necessarily contain information about the configuration or
composition of the landscape.
Behaviour
Equals NP = 1 when only one patch is present and
increases, without limit, as the number of patches increases
